Kahquah 2014 ~ Are You In?

Hey future and potential Campers!  It’s almost February 1st.  Can you handle that?  I know I can!  I’m done with winter and the ridiculous ‘polar vortex.’  Bring on summer!!
Camp registration opens this Saturday — February 1st, and we are excited to begin accepting applications from campers, CREW, and LIT for Summer 2014. Whether your child is a first time camper or an “old veteran” of camp, we’re certain that they’ll enjoy everything we have planned for them!

In keeping with our recent pattern of making your child’s camp experience fresh, year after year, we are pleased to announce our first ever Wilderness Adventure Week! This camp takes place from July 13-19 and welcomes campers between the ages of 11 and 14. Kahquah has more than 300 acres of undeveloped forest interlaced with walking trails, and the outdoors has been part of our camp since its beginning (when, frankly every part of camp felt like wilderness). We have been offering wilderness activities for decades, but for the first time this year we’re stoked to offer a full-week camp focusing on wilderness skills… things like fire and shelter building, nature discovery, and learning about edible plants and berries. Campers will arrive on buses with the BLAZE campers and spend two days on our main site learning wilderness skills. Then it’s off on an adventure ~ cooking over an open fire, living in shelters they built themselves, and discovering God through nature.

If your son or daughter wants a little taste of wilderness, but is not ready to commit to a whole week, we want you to know that all of our kids’ camps will have Wilderness Activities that they can try out. In addition, they will have an opportunity to try out the two new activities introduced last summer ~ stand-on paddle boards, and the low ropes/initiatives course.  Last year, campers loved the challenge of transferring all their team mates from one platform to another using one rope and a LOT of teamwork.

If you registered for camp last summer, you may have already heard that we have changed our method of rewarding you when you refer a friend to camp. Returning (or new) registrants receive an automatic $20 discount when they bring a friend to camp that didn’t attend last year. Studies show that people choose a camp because a friend, family member, or co-worker recommended it. We encourage you to be the person that recommends us, and we would be thrilled to reward you for it!
If you want to see a full listing of our programs, dates, age ranges, and/or prices (or to register for camp), please check out our website. We hope to see your kids this summer!

Oh, and if you know someone that you think might be interested in sending a child to Camp, but you’re pretty sure they’re not subscribed to this blog, would you send this blog post to them and direct them to www.campkahquah.com?  Thanks!!
